Women in the Air Force Associaton.

We are social group of Women of the Air Force Past and Presently serving

Dave Schultz of Airman Heritage Foundation requested donations of women’s uniforms for their museum.  There will be quite a few new members going to San Antonio in October. It would be a perfect time to hand deliver any donations to him then. Dave will be hosting the fashion show at Lackland then.  See gallery tab for more information.

Introduction

We are a group of women of the United States Air Force. You are welcome to our FB group but there is an official membership that’s $10/year. We meet for a reunion once a year for camaraderie and friendship. We ask that when you join you provide the dates that you serve and hopefully a profile photo to prove you are a WAF (veteran or currently serving). Personnel attacks are out. This is not a place for "selling things”. Not a place for politics or #MeToo. We respect one another here and glad you found your sisters in the AF.

From the Desk of:
Bonnie Cooper, Membership Chairman

Greetings:

The WAF Association is a social group of former and current Women in the Air Force of all ranks. We have about 650 members.  Some of our members have given their husbands, sisters, etc. associate members status. Membership dues are $10.00 per year.  You may pay for more than one year at a time if you wish. I do not like writing $10 checks so pay for 4 or 5 years at a time. A membership directory is provided to all members.  Most members list their name, maiden name, address, phone number, email

and all assignments with the years assigned.  It is at the discretion of the member to reveal this information.  The following information is my listing:

Cooper, Bonnie L.;  6803 Forest Crest No., San Antonio, TX  78240-3311, bonnieusaf@att.net
Enl. Oct.62; BMT Oct-Dec.62; Med Tec Tng Greenville AFB, MS and Gunter AFB, AL; 63-66 Hamilton
AFB, CA; 68-69 Wiesbaden AF, Ger; 70-71 Hamilton AFB, CA; 71-73 Clark AB, Pl; 73-75 Cannon AFB, NM;
75-76 Clark AB, Pl; 76-78 RAF Lakenheath, Eng; 78-81 Andrews AFB, MD; 81-82 Izmir, Tur; 82-86 Kelly
AFB, TX; 86-87 Castle AFB, CA; 87-92 Carswell AFB, TX; (plus two deployments to Zwiebrucken, Ger).
Retired CMSgt.

A current membership directory has been sent to all our members.  Each new member will be receiving their copy upon completing their membership information and paying their dues.  We have an annual reunion in different parts of the country; and it’s normally planned for the Fall months (September or October most of the time). Some of our past reunions have been in Palm Springs, CA;
Charleston, SC; Portland, ME; Cody, WY; San Antonio, TX;  Colorado Springs, CO;  Albany, NY;
Boise, ID;  Salt Lake City, UT; Madison, WI and Buffalo, NY. An annual general meeting is scheduled and attendance is a mandatory request.  We offer optional tours of the area but some of our members elect to stay at the hotel and visit with old-time friends of the past.  A farewell dinner is planned on the last night.

We have two Facebook pages. “Women of the Air Force Association” is more of a chat-type page. I am the administrator of that site. The other Facebook page is “Women in the Air Force Association” . It is more of a “Like/Comment” that does not allow any posting.

There is a website that might assist you in locating past friends that served with you over the years.  It is  www.airforce.togetherweserved.com. and it’s  free initally; it will continue to be free if you recruit 5 additional members in a given period of time. Otherwise, it’s about $20 a year. This website has a “Forum” in which you can post  “Looking for” requests. The AF Sergeants Association and the AF Association have published membership directories of which I receive a new one periodically.  The convenience of this research tool outweights the cost.  I’ve used this directory to search for Air Force members from my 15 assigned duties during my 30 years of service and I’ve located many women from my 1962 BMT Flight.

Are you registered with the Women in Military Service for America Memorial (WIMSA) in Washington, DC? Their goal is to register every woman who has served or is serving in the military.  More information about the Memorial and the registration information are at:  www.womensmemorial.org;
they have an “In Search Of” section as well!  I am a charter member and was fortunate enough to
attend the dedication.  I’ve been back twice and have also attended the 15th Anniversary event in
2012.

Please share this information about our association with your friends.

If you have any questions
just email or call me.

Sincerely,

Bonnie Cooper, Membership Chairman
